DIY: Homemade Sidewalk Chalk

What you’ll need
(paint and plaster available at Michael’s and other craft stores)
  • 1 cup plaster of paris
  • 1 cup water
  • powdered tempera paint
  • molds: paper cups, toilet paper rolls, etc.
Directions
Mix plaster of paris and water, and add powdered tempera paint until you have the color you like.  Pour mixture into a mold such as a paper cup, and allow to dry completely.  When dry, tear away the paper cup (or other mold), and start drawing! *NOT EDIBLE*

I was just curious, but how long might it take to dry thoroughly? Is it something I should make the night before?

Does it have to be powered temera paint? What if I just squirt some acrylic paint in it?
